Michael Henry Goodson

Michael Henry Goodson, age 80, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away December 21, 2025. He was born May 14, 1945 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Cecil and Agnes Bernice (Carpenter) Goodson. Mike enlisted into the military at the age of 16, in 1961. He received his military assignment to Avon Park, FL in 1976. Mike served 20 years and retired in 1985 as a Tech Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. Following that he spent 43 more years with civil service at the Avon Park Bombing Range totaling 63 years of service. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church and later became a member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park and has been a resident of Avon Park, Florida since 1976 coming from Maine. Mike is survived by his Wife of 57 years – Peggy Goodson; Son – Keith Goodson (Jennifer); Tesha Lee Baker (Jimmy); Brothers – Pat Goodson (Connie); Steve Goodson (Amy); Jim Goodson (Connie) Bill Goodson; Grandchildren – Michael; Ashlynn; Alyssa; Landon; Karlee; Karissa; Lynlee; Kaitlyn; and Great Grandson – Carson. He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brother – David Vandernoot; and Sister – Sandra Goodson. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 28, 2025 at 1:00 PM with family receiving friends beginning at 12 Noon at the Avon Park Air Force Range. A private family graveside service will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
