Mr. Michael Leroy Ground, age 69 of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at his residence.
The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements.
Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00pm at Cone Funeral Home.
Visitation with the family will begin on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 3:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
A private family graveside service will be held at Ground Family Cemetery.
Michael was born July 28, 1954, in Smiths Grove, KY to the late Maxie Elwood Ground and the late Dorothy Grinstead. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ground.
He is survived by his daughter, Cherie (Bobby) Madison of Bowling Green, KY; two grandchildren, Paige Madison and Ethan Madison; two brothers, Charles (Amy) Ground and Stevie (Lori) Ground; six sisters, Linda (Lynn) Harris, Gracie Norton, Nancy (Rusty) Stacker, Joyce Ausbrooks, Teresa (Kenny) Miller, and Maxine (Steve) Arterburn, all of Smiths Grove, KY; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Howard and Eddie Howard both of Somerset, KY; nineteen nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.
Michael loved hunting, farming and occasionally scratching off a lottery ticket. He was an avid UK Basketball fan that never missed a game nor missed an episode of NCIS. Michael was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to cut up with others and got a kick out of making people laugh. Michael adored his family, and you could catch him at his grandchildren’s volleyball and baseball games proudly cheering them on.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Donations can be dropped off at the funeral home.
