Michael Hallahan Obituary
Michael Timothy Hallahan Sr – Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Mike went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2025, surrounded by many of his family. We are deeply grateful for the prayers extended during his illness. He was born on December 20, 1952, in Decorah, Iowa. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1971 and was a proud alumnus of the University of Iowa in 1975. He was passionate about his life-long career in insurance and held various management positions throughout the east and Midwest. He met Anne (Warner) in Pennsylvania, where they were married on December 1, 1984. They moved from Pennsylvania via several states, gathering friends along the way, to settle in Michigan.
Mike loved his family above all and was frequently the "social director" of family occasions, which he cherished. He embraced all his children's activities, notably the years of soccer, in which he occasionally served as manager, coach for the youngest ages, referee, and always avid cheerleader. He adored his grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the upcoming marriage of his only daughter. In retirement, he kept busy planning trips, keeping in touch with his many close friends throughout the country, perfecting his Dad jokes, and cheering on his Iowa Hawkeyes in any sport.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Edward Hallahan and mother Lillian Hallahan. He was father to Mike Jr. (Sam), Patrick (Meg), Tom, Katie (fiancée Jake) and Jim (Anna). He was grandfather to Chase, Hudson, Sutton, Stella, Brooks, Owen, Baker and Callum. He was brother-in-law to Donna (Tom) and uncle to Adam, Rachel, Buddy and Tracy.
