I just heard of Jonathan's passing in the Washington & Lee University alumni magazine. I am so very sorry. Jonathan lived next door to me in Gaines Hall. He was a wonderful person...so kind and patient. I remember how much he enjoyed singing in Southern Comfort at W & L. He will be missed by so many. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I got a chance to meet Jonathan Hanger when he married my niece, Janet Wilson. What a pleasure to get to know such a special man that was coming into our family. I later went to their beautiful wedding. Jonathan became a devoted husband, father, and a friend to so many. Such an easy going Christian man I admired so much. He had a great caring way about him along with a sense of humor. Always appeared very calm in nature and so willing to be there for others. Always had that sincere smile on his face. I never will forget the day he sang at my Husband, Fred´s funeral. It meant so much to me. I will miss him dearly. My heartfelt sympathy, love, and prayers go out to Janet Hanger and all of their family and friends. God´s Blessings to all.

Jonathan came to our door after we had lived in the neighborhood for a while. He introduced himself and handed us a jar of his honey. We sat on the porch, talking like old friends. We will remember him as that kind of person, one who on first meeting had a ready smile, a wealth of knowledge, and a gift for conversation.
We are thinking of you, Janet, and of the children, and offer our sympathy and prayers.
