Michael Harris, Sr.
A Journey Begins
Michael Harris, Sr., 62, of Woodbridge, VA, affectionately known as "Kojack" transitioned to eternity on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Michael was born in Manassas, VA to the late Emmett Harris and Anglee Spearman Harris on March 21, 1959. He was the third of seven siblings. He went to schools in the Woodbridge, VA area. Michael joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Occoquan, VA at an early age where he was baptized by the late Pastor, Rev. James Morris. He loved to sing and had a great tenor singing voice. He was an original member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church youth choir called "The Ebenettes" which later changed to the "Ebenezer Echoes."
Michael was married at an early age to Tammy Lynn Brooks in Occoquan, VA in 1978. They later divorced after many years of marriage but in that union they had three children. He learned construction at a very young age while working alongside of his father, at Harris Construction Company of Woodbridge, VA. They built many of the communities in the Woodbridge and Dumfries area. He also worked at the Culpepper Lumberyard in Fredericksburg, VA and then later worked alongside his brother Danny at Handyman Dan's Home Improvement for many years. Michael was a hard worker and was very good with his hands. He was a naturally gifted artist who would draw and create amazing artwork.
As a young man, he loved playing with the Woodbridge Raiders Softball League while competing throughout the Prince William County area. His hobbies were watching old western movies, fishing, playing pool and spades. He loved going fishing with his family and friends and would often brag when catching the biggest fish. Michael was an avid spades player who would boast to his fellow opponents when holding a winning hand. Walking is another one of his passions and you could find him walking throughout the community, greeting all those he came in contact with. He was also a great dancer and would show off his dance moves at any event. He was the life of the party. Michael always had a word or phrase to put a smile on your face. He was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He called everyone a friend. He would laugh and joke with anyone and had a great sense of humor that could lift anyone's spirit. Michael was generous to a fault. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Michael was a strong man who loved life, loved God, his children, family and friends. When on the phone with any of his children or family members, he would always end the call with "I love you." Michael was a loving, caring, generous, and giving son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather and man of faith who will forever be missed. He is now singing in the heavenly choir and walking around heaven all day!
