Michael Jay Harrison, long-time resident of Edinboro, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Michael was more often referred to by the name Mike, or as Hop-Along-Harry, in his hay days. He and four brothers, Pat, Dan, Tim and Greg Harrison grew up at Harrison Lakes, the family property in McKean, PA.
During his youth, Mike enjoyed playing football and basketball, running track and hurdles, wrestling, writing, and driving numerous muscle cars, especially his ‘69 Camaro. Later in life he obtained one of his dream cars, a ‘66 Chevelle.
Much of Mike's mid-life years were spent working and raising his three kids, Zach, Abby, and Luke. He would often them to Harrison Lakes where they would swim, fish, explore and visit their grandparents, Bill and Sally Harrison. Mike would also take the kids on random car ride adventures, where they would stop at a convenience store, grab their preferred drink and a Slim Jim, then trek onward to find a playground or go-cart-track to visit.
If one would have asked him, Mike would have described the past 16 years as some of the best years of his life. Sixteen years ago, Wesson, Mike's eldest grandchild, was born to his daughter Abby. This began the chapter of his life titled "Papa Mike." After Wesson was born six more grandkids made their way into the world and straight to Papa Mike's heart. Abby had two more children, Kinley and Haylen Pavolko, with her husband Paul. Mike's son Luke, and wife Alaina, added their four children, Milan, Claire, Lane, and Lila to the pack.
Mike was an amazing grandpa and his grandkids will always remember their Papa Mike as a kind, generous, fun, and goofy man. Abby and Luke will forever remember the constant, unconditional love and support they and their families received from their dad.
No words will ever suffice to say how loved and appreciated Mike was, and his family is grateful to have been blessed with Mike in their lives. Most importantly, they are grateful that Mike knew Jesus and is now in Heaven with his family.
Mike is survived by three children, their spouses, and seven grandchildren: Zach and Katy; Abby and Paul Pavolko, their daughter's, Kinley and Haylen and son, Wesson Trypus; Luke and Alaina Harrison and their kids, Milan, Claire, Lane, and Lila. He is also survived by his two brothers, Pat and Greg Harrison.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Sally Harrison, sister Julie, and brothers Dan and Tim Harrison.
Family and friends may call at Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie St., Edinboro, PA on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held there Wednesday at 11 a.m.
