Michael Joseph Henderlite
March 10, 1979 - January 27, 2022
Charlotte, North Carolina - Michael Joseph Henderlite passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. He was born on March 10, 1979, in Saint Louis, MO to Jim and Patty Henderlite. The family relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1981.
Known as Mike to many of his friends, Michael grew up in Charlotte where he graduated from East Mecklenburg High school in 1997. During these years, Michael was active in Scouting, ascending to the rank of Eagle. He was also active in the youth group at Myers Park Baptist Church. He cultivated his love of music in the school band where he made lifetime friendships as a three-year member of the East Meck Marching Eagles. Michael also performed live as a guitarist with his friends in the band Idiosyncrasy.
After high school, Michael attended Appalachian State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Industry. He graduated in 2001 and went on to continue his education at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ where he attained multiple certifications in digital sound recording.
As a professional, Michael worked in the recording industry in Los Angeles for several years before moving back to the Charlotte area. He continued his career in sound engineering, working in the public sector. Michael also had his own audio production business which allowed him to become a part of the music scene in Charlotte.
Michael will be remembered for his kindness and genuine personality. He was always the easiest to spot, usually the tallest in the room, but he was known as one of the gentlest people you could meet. He inherited a love of technology and general gadgetry from his father, and he has passed this on to his son. Michael and his wife Shawana built a loving relationship and family based on a strong bond and a warm home for their two children.
Michael is survived by his wife, Shawana; his son, Ashton and stepdaughter, Amya; parents, Jim and Patty; brother, Aaron and his wife, Tara and nephews, Owen and Brady and niece, Meghan.
