Michael S. Hendrickson

Michael S. Hendrickson, 67, of Purdy, MO, passed from this life to his eternal home on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his home with loved one's at his side.
Michael was born on November 28, 1957 in Riverside, CA, son of Wayne Norman Hendrickson and Thelma Edith (Franks) Hendrickson. At around 10 years old, Michael and his family moved to Great Falls, MT where he got a job running a paper route and was a box boy helping his mother at a fabric store. During his junior year, his family moved to Wheaton, MO, where he was very athletic. He competed in the high jump event in track and field, and was also skilled in basketball, baseball, and football. Following graduation in 1976, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on January 12, 1978. Following these duties, he furthered his education at the Bryan Institute, earning a degree in Computer Science.
On August 4, 1980, in Wichita, KS, Michael married Melissa Jean Hemphill. To this union, they were blessed with three children. In 1986, the family moved to Purdy, MO, where Michael began a thirty-year career with Play Power as a Welder. A few interests in Michael's life were reading, cooking, hunting and fishing. Although he didn't regularly attend a church, Michael felt closest to God in the outdoors. He also never forgot his English heritage and as a child growing up in a military family, Michael was a world traveler.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa, of the home; one son, Wayne Hendrickson and wife Rebecca of Harrison, AR; two daughters Nicole Patton and husband Kelly of Purdy, MO and Heather Ratliff and husband Ryan of Exeter, MO; two brothers, Daryl Hendrickson and wife Christa of the State of California and Gary Hendrickson of Springfield, MO; one sister, Cheryl McCaffrey and husband John of Wichita, KS; and seven grandchildren, Michael Hendrickson, Landon Hendrickson, Konner Burnette, Gracie Patton, Hayden Patton, Raylan Patton and Rachel Ratliff.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Thelma Hendrickson.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on April 14, 2025 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Military honors will be rendered. Deny Lemaster will be officiating. The family would like to extend a special word of gratitude to Hospice Compassus for all of their love and care during these last few weeks. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
