Michael Horton Obituary
Michael was known as an enthusiastic sports fan, with a particular passion for baseball that defined much of his youth. As a teenager attending Barringer High School in Newark, NJ, he excelled on the baseball field and nearly earned a spot with a major league team; a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport. Michael's favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees. Also, Michael was a huge football fan, with his favorite team being the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite basketball team being the Philadelphia 76ers.
Michael is survived by his sister Daphne Carmichael, James Mealing, Edward Mealing, George Davis, Earl Davis, Pamela Stigler, Debra Davis, Eva Scott, Othelia Davis and James Davis (Skipper) along with a hosts of nieces and nephews, Ashley Carmichael, James Carmichael, David Horton, Bernard Horton, Erica Horton, great-nephew Jeremiah Horton (Man-Man), with whom he treated like his own children and his dear friend Tammy Goodwin.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Mary Alice Mealing, step-father Willie James Mealing, father Spugeon Horton and sister Mary Renee Horton, brother Paul Mealing and brother Robert Mealing.
We will forever cherish the memories and legacy of Michael Steven Horton.
