Michael Huffman Obituary

Michael C. Huffman, age 72, of Brownstown, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Huffman attended Medora Baptist Church for many years.

Mike graduated from Medora High School in 1971. His career included working for Bateman Construction and serving as an advisor at Aisin from 1993 until his retirement in 2009. During his years at Aisin, he built many lasting friendships.

Mike never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone he met. One of his most cherished traits was his love for babies, and he was well-known for his ability to make them laugh.

Family was very important to Mike. He deeply loved and cherished his family, with a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He never missed one of their sporting events and took great joy in being part of their lives. Mike made it a point to visit his sister, Lisa, twice a week, and he always looked forward to Sunday dinners with his wife's family in Underwood.

Mike had a passion for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He loved classic rock music and enjoyed going to the races with Pete, Jason, and his grandson, Xavier. He followed NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I.U. basketball and football teams with enthusiasm. In his free time, Mike also enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica, trading guns, playing pool, and playing cornhole with his family and friends.

In addition, Mike took great pride in reminiscing about the "good old days," listening to Brownstown sports on the radio, enjoying time with his classmates, and spending time on his beloved lawn mower.

Born on August 8, 1953, in Seymour, Mike was the son of Dale and Shirley (Umphress) Huffman, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 28, 1976, in Sparksville, he married Deborah Jean (Mull) Keith, and she survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include three sons: Richie (Aliethia) Keith of Seymour, Sam (Deana Bledsoe) Huffman of Seymour, and Josh (Jessica) Huffman of Brownstown; one daughter, Amanda (Tony) Sevakis of Seymour; grandchildren: Seth Keith, Emily Keith, Noah Huffman, Zekelee Bledsoe, Kyra Huffman (Ray Sweeney), Xavier Huffman, Lyla Huffman, Rylee (Darius) Spall, Elijah Hubbard, Owen Hubbard, Tanner Sevakis, Leyton Sevakis, and Ethan Sevakis; great-grandchild, Kamari Sweeney; one sister, Lisa Wilkerson of Brownstown; and his beloved dog, Annie.

Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by one brother, Craig Huffman; one sister, Rita Booker; and one brother-in-law, Dale Wilkerson.

A Celebration of Life service for Michael C. Huffman will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
