Michael “Skippy” Ihli

Michael "Skippy" Ihli, 55, Minot, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his home.

Skippy was born on September 23, 1970 in Minot to Frank and Kathyrn (Moe) Ihli. He was raised in North Dakota, mostly in the Minot area. He left school before graduation to begin a career in the construction industry. Skippy really enjoyed running all the equipment and doing some of the mechanical work. In addition to construction and mechanical work, Skippy would also help local farmers and ranchers. He always took pride in everything that he was doing.

Skippy enjoyed 'his care free lifestyle' and he loved his boys. He would always talk and brag about them. They were truly the light of his life. Everyone talks about the Skippy smile, and yes, he did have one! He was one of a kind. Next to his boys he enjoyed riding his Harleys and watching any kind of racing. His love of life will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Skippy is survived by his sons, Josef, Paul, and Travis; sister, Carolyn (Bradley) Kuntz; nephew, Tony (Kim Weismann) Freed; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Kathryn Ihli; maternal grandparents; Herbert and Pearl Moe; paternal grandparents, Marcus and Theresa Ihli; and an infant brother, Paul.

Memorial Gathering: Thursday, February 12, 202 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Sunshine Room at the Sleep Inn, Minot.

Burial: will take place at a later date.
