Michael D. Jessup, age 61, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 18, 2025. He was born on October 8, 1963, in Mount Vernon to Richard W. Jessup and Betty (Pearrell) Jessup.

Michael was a 1982 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. A dedicated and hardworking man, he owned and operated R & W Jessup and Sons– a family business founded by his father in 1970– proudly serving his community with honesty and integrity for over 40 years.

A gifted seft-taught drummer, Mike discovered his passion for music in high school and went on to play with several bands, including Second Coming, Infinity, Three Days Wait, and Cryin Out Loud. For 25 years, he faithfully served in the worship band at Newstart Church, using his talents to glorify God.

Mike's faith was at the forefront of his life. His unwavering love for the Lord was evident in everything he did–from his work ethic and generosity to his humility and reverence. He lived each day in service to God, and his spiritual legacy will continue through the lives of those he touched.

Mike enjoyed snowboarding, camping, horseback riding, skateboarding, and cruising on his Harley-Davidson with friends, sons, and brother. His adventurous spirit, love of music, and devotion to family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.

Mike was married to his beloved wife, Dawn (Herbert) Jessup, for 31 years. He was a devoted father to three children–Tanner (Christy) Jessup, Morgan Jessup, and Mitchell Jessup–and a proud grandfather to three grandsons; Lyle, Kaden, and Elijah. He is survived by his wife, Dawn; his children and grandchildren; his brother, Dick Jessup of Mount Vernon; and four sisters: Judi Zolman of Mount Vernon, Carol Szerlip of Columbus, Cherie (Kevin) Moore of Mount Vernon, and Robin (Robert) Bolds of Columbus.

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jeff Zolman.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where a funeral service will be held on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bob Bolds and Pastor Greg McNichols will be officiating.

Memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to the Guatemala Compassionate Ministries, in care of Newstart Church, 795 Pollock Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
