Dr. Michael David Johnson, a man of many names but preferred Mike, passed away on February 2, 2024. Born on April 5, 1958, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting contributions to the field of healthcare. Remembered fondly by his family and coworkers, his light continues to shine through those who loved him.

Michael received his College education at the University of the Pacific in 1984 and completed his Degree in  Philosophy at the University of Kansas in 1987. He pursued his specialization in Cardiovascular Disease, Epidemiology, and Behavioral Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center from September 1987 to February 1989.

Michael began his journey at the Southern Nevada Health District in 2016. His hard work and dedication saw him rise through the ranks, ultimately serving as the Deputy Director of the District. His greatest achievement, however, was leading the Health Department during the challenging times of the 2020 pandemic. His big heart and unwavering commitment truly made him an amazing public and healthcare servant. He also received several recognitions and certifications from the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine.

In 2020, Michael found personal happiness when he tied the knot with Arlene. He was a man of simple pleasures – his love for Pho and Mediterranean cuisine was well-known among his friends and family. He found joy in watching his favorite TV shows, including Seinfeld, Modern Family, the Food Network, and Blue Blood.

A lover of the arts and sports, Michael had an eclectic taste. He enjoyed films like "Raiders of the Lost Ark," music by The Beatles, and supported the Steelers and Dodgers. He was also an active man, who loved fishing, golf, hunting, and exploring places like South America and Alaska. His preference for the color blue reflected his calm and collected personality.

Michael was a humble and kind man who cared for others, loved to laugh, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He believed in doing what you love and following your heart. This ideology was reflected in his contributions in the field of Cardiology, and his service at SNHD. His humility and dedication have left a lasting legacy and an example for others to follow.

A Visitation service for Michael will be held on March 1st, 2024, at 1:30PM with a the Funeral Service to follow at 3:30PM at Davis Funeral Home Rainbow. As we remember him, let's embrace his teachings, continue his legacy, and always remember to do what we like to do best.
