Michael R. Jones, 72, of the Town of Woodmohr, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center - Eau Claire, with family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 17, 1951, in Chippewa Falls, to Robert and Lucy (Lutz) Jones. Michael graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1969.
Michael worked at Mason Shoe Company as a cement line lead, and later as a foreman, for 29 years before his retirement. He also worked 13 years at Indianhead Plating from 2000-2013.
Gardening was Michael’s pride and joy. Whether vegetable or flower, he could name any plant he saw and help it flourish. Every summer would find him outside tending to his plants, playing with his four-legged companions, or spending time with his family.
Michael is survived by his sisters, Sue (Judy Gray) Gingras, Dianne (Michael) Wilson, and Pat (Bud) Westrom; nieces and nephews, Jon (Angie) Wilson, Kyle (Sara) Wilson, Tricia (Scott) Kwick, Bill (Jen) Westrom, and Ryan (Catie) Wilson; great-nieces and nephews, Camille Tyler, Cody Kruger, Kiya Wilson, Caden Wilson, Ashlee Endvick, Kolton Wilson, Myah Wilson, Brendan (Megan) Kwick, Peyton (Jon) KwickNess, Brody, Caleb, Kinley, Brevin, and Crew Westrom, and Rowan Wilson; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Teagan, Hudson, and Sage Tyler, and Charlie Jane KwickNess.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Michael Gingras; and niece, Tammy Westrom.
A private family interment will take place at Prairie View Cemetery in the Village of Lake Hallie.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held from 12 – 3 p.m., Friday, May 5 at The Fill Inn Station, 104 W Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with lunch served from 12:30 – 2 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Marshfield Medical Centers of Rice Lake and Eau Claire for their care. They would also like to extend a very special thank you to Mike’s sister, Pat, for providing endless support, rides to appointments, and daily cares. Thank you all for taking such good care of him.
