The following obituary was written by Mike Just himself and we would like to share with you.
Michael Allen Just born January18, 1950 in Granite Falls MN to Harold and Mary Ann Just; & baptized in the Lutheran Faith and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. In 1958 I moved with my parents to a farm south of Rush City. Attended Rush City schools and graduated in 1968. I served in the United States Marine Corp. 1969-1971. Employed at United Sprinkler in Rush City 1971-1975, Amber Milling 1976-2004 and Andersen Windows 2004-2015, retired January 31, 2015
Married Jackie Swanson July 1, 1972; 3 children Travis, Tennille & Timarie. Jackie passed away from a couragous battle with cancer September 20, 1993.
Married Patricia Hawkinson of Grasston MN June 28, 1997. I sent Pat a gopher "if she could gopher me I could gopher her".
When growing up I would always work for someone then I would always ask "what are we going to do next" and they would say "lets finish this first". I started trapping gophers when I was 8 years old; one year I caught 376 gophers. I enjoyed push mowing the lawn even though I had a new rider. I also enjoyed baling hay and other farm work for the neighbors. I arm wrestled 1975-1986 & won a few trophies at the state fair. I enjoyed going to country music shows in Sandstone, MN and also Branson Missouri. Looking for 4 leaf clovers & pennies or any coins, riding bike & picking up pop cans, hayrides, I'm a German Shorthair, Like watching Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, David Muir, doing Word Search and shaking dice. I bowled on the Amber Mill team. I am a member of the American Legion. I started giving blood in the Marine Corps 1969; they picked every other person. Having given 21 gallons of blood (more than 2-milk cans) as of 2015; couldn't give after my stem cell transplant. Liked collecting antiques and had a collection of 10 Scorpion snowmobiles 1967-1976, participated in the Cancer Ski-Athon., liked making potatoe sausage, also loved going around to lutefisk suppers; "you never travel to far, or pay to much and its always good even if bad. Put in a big garden every year. Enjoyed going to all the grandkids sporting events and dance recitals, also their sleep overs. Enjoyed listening to Neighbors Band, Harris Lutheran Praise Band, Larry and Bev Rose, Eddie Pangerl, Craig & Lois Dahl.
Mike will be lovingly remembered and survived by his wife Pat, childen Tennille Just,Timarie (Derek)Jacobson, stepson Jeff (Sandy)Hawkinson and daugher-in-law Brittany Just. Siblings Char (Dean)Anderson, Randy (Cami)Just, Debbie (Randy) Drevecky; Special Uncle Jim Gabbert and aunts Ethel Gabbert & Elaine Jeseritz, brother-in-laws Jack Anderson, Roger (Carol)Anderson. Grandchildren Arisa & Ren Just, Teegan & Easton Goebel, Jaylyn, Braylee & Bryson Jacobson, Abby & Nate Hawkinson, Jared (Heather) Hawkinson, Tyler (Maggie) Hawkinson, Dylan Hawkinson, Miranda (Jacob)Higgins and 6 great grandchilden; many cousins, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Ann Just, late wife Jackie, brother Greg, son Travis, in-laws Delbert,Florence,Tom& Kevin Swanson; and many other loved ones.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 6th, 2025, 12:00pm with a time for visiting from 11:00am until the service starts at 12:00pm and luncheon to follow at Braham Event Center, 655 8th St. SW Braham, MN 55006. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred. A private burial will be held in the spring.
