WATERFORD - Michael Kobylar, 95, entered into eternal life Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Glendale Nursing Home, in Scotia.
Born in Cohoes, Mike was the son of the late Theodore and Krystyna Kobcza Kobylar. He attended Cohoes High School and went on to establish his own business, Modern Weather Stripping, which he owned and operated for over 50 years.
Mike's faith and love of family always played an important role in his life. He was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, in Cohoes, where he held many positions over the years. These included church board member, church trustee, treasurer and auditor. He also belonged to the OCA as well as the St. Basil Brotherhood in which he served as treasurer.
Mike was the loving husband of the late Katherine Fiaschetti Kobylar who passed in 2022. They were married for 51 years and always loved spending time together, traveling and of course, going to Florida every winter.
He is survived by his sister, Mary "Dolly" Zendran (Zachary) of Stillwater; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, Anna Kobylar, Rose Peplowski, Julia Talar, Samuel Kobylar, and John Kobylar.
The family would like to especially thank Dennis and Gail Gagnon, and Beverly and Herb Cole for their care of Mike over the past years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 9:30 a.m., from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, and at 10 a.m., in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, Boght Corners.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, from 4-6 p.m.
A Parastas Service will be held at the funeral home Friday evening, at 6 p.m.
