Michael Karl Kozuck, 72, of Belvidere, IL went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2025 after a long illness. He was born on June 5, 1952, in Rockford, IL, the son of Joseph and Ruthe (Wallmichrath) Kozuck. Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, and special son, brother, and friend to many.
Michael graduated from Boylan High School in 1970 and then attended Rock Valley College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at SIU – Carbondale. After college Mike worked for Eagle Foods for 34 years before retiring. He met his wife Karen (Terrell) in 1977 on a teacher’s bowling league and he knew almost immediately he was going to marry her. They were married for 46 years. They raised two children, Rebecca and David, whom he loved very much.
Michael was a golf enthusiast. He loved watching pro tournaments and enjoyed playing the game until it was too difficult for him to walk. He was also an excellent bowler and played on teams in high school and college. His favorite time of day was having his morning cup of coffee before setting out to get a list of things accomplished. Mike had an easygoing nature, was friendly to everyone he met, showed kindness to all, and had a genuine smile. He was always positive and never complained about his physical limitations or pain.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Rebecca (Iskander) Aminov and David Kozuck; best furry friends, Kaiba and Luci; sister, Merri Jo (Doug) Ary; brother, Tim Kozuck; several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Mark Kozuck.
A special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice for all the loving care they gave Michael in his final days.
Mike will be missed by all who knew him, but he leaves behind beautiful memories.
