Michael Lawrence Lankes

Michael Lawrence Lankes, 85, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, February 15, 2026. Born January 17, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, Mike graduated from Flint Central High School, and then proudly served in the United States Navy. Mike became a devoted Elks member in Grand Rapids. He served as Exalted Ruler, participated in numerous community events, and was THE Santa for the kids at the Grand Haven Lodge for over 20 years, becoming a lifetime member. He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance, Potentials Unlimited, and owned the Austin-Powell-Lankes Insurance Agency. Mike was known for his warm personality, his deep love for family, friends, America and Doo-Wop, and his adamant hatred of mushrooms!

Mike is survived by Barbara, his wife of 47 years, their adult children, Lisa Taglauer (Tim), Leslie Fusco, Rob Decker (Michelle) and Shelley Decker, with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, dear relatives and friends.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Grand Haven Elks #1200 Building Fund, 315 S Third St, Grand Haven MI 49417.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held this July.
