On August 10, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, Mike was born to Roman and Maria (Balacka) Leskiw. Mike married the love of his life, Carol DeGrazia on August 1, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, and their marriage went on to last for 49 wonderful years. At a young age he found his love for photography, and went on to become a talented professional whose photos were published in several Children's Press books. In 1970 he joined the United States Marine Corps and served as a reservist for 6 years. Later in life, his love for science led him to nursing. During Mike’s 28 year career in the medical field he saved lives as an emergency room nurse at Jasper County Hospital, and later became Director of Nursing at George Ade Healthcare. He also served as a Deputy Coroner for Jasper County. He was a member of the Wheatfield Masonic Lodge #642, where he was a Past Master. You may have also seen him dutifully representing Kougar Pride as a member of the KVHS Cannon Crew. He loved playing racquetball along with golfing, bowling, and helping out with the Boy Scouts. His love of travel and photography led him to many National Parks, and to destinations abroad.
