COL (Retired) Michael B. Lester

I am just learning about COL Lester's passing. He was a great man and a great soldier. I served as one of his commanders at the 85th Medical Battalion, Fort Meade, MD. Colonel Lester and his Family are in my meditations. r/herbJones

Mrs. Lester, I was thinking about COL Lester today while on a "road march". He was my first BTN Commander back in the old 85th MED BN in 1986. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but what a great officer and leader.

He and I frequently discussed our experiences during the Vietnam War and he was ever so encouraging while I was writing "A Different Face of War." He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ginny, Jerry and I were stunned and saddened to read about Mike. We are so sorry for your tremendous loss. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since we last saw one another. Dear Ginny and family,
We share in your loss of a family leader and a dear friend whom we met on a cruise ship and shall never forget. What a delightful human being with a never say never attitude to life. He was a wonderful person who we will fondly remember.
