Brian - so sorry that I could not make it down for Mike's wake and funeral. In 1969 he was one of the WHPD officers to take me under his wing. Forty - three years later I still remember his words that have stood by me all this time. Thank you for a special gift.

I started the West Hartford Youth Council in 1965 and we ran dances at the old Hall High which required us to hire private duty police. Mike was one of the guys who I always requested because he was very friendly to everyone but took no guff from anyone. Mike sometimes even came on his own time to make sure that everything was under control. He was a great guy, a credit to the WHPD and his family and I was sorry to hear of his passing. Don Reder

Michael was like a second father to me. As Brian and I endured our own career catastrophes, Michael, unlike others, knew our pain. His love for Brian and I was evident every time we were together. I am going to miss his reviews of the latest BBC/PBS crime dramas. Rest in peace, Michael.

So sad to hear about officer Lddy's passing. In my mind he was the last of the old-school cops. Still able to use his own discretion, and his take on the world realized youthful indiscretions. My friends and I still speak of him kindly when reminiscing about old days. Be it 12 year olds on minibikes on town property, or teen hooligans in overly fast cars...he was always respectful and decent to us. We lost a class act. Went to school with MAureen and knew Brian. Very sorry guys.

Officer Mike Liddy – As a WHPD Explorer I knew Mike from the early 1970's. I always enjoyed my time with Mike whether it was walking a beat or patrolling an area in West Hartford. His skill of policing the streets and the lessons I learned from him was one of the reasons I went on to a career in law enforcement. My thoughts and prayers are with the Liddy family.
Mike I know you are watching over all police officers everywhere,

To the entire Liddy Family:
I was assigned to Michael's Squad, fresh out of the Police Academy in May of 1989. I'll never forget that huge smile he always had on his face, and that hint of Irish he always had, when he spoke. It was a great pleasure and HONOR working with Michael for the 2 years that I did. I only wish I had worked with him longer. A true gentleman!!!!! He'll be missed.
My Deepest Sympathy,
Alan E Goldstein (RET. WHPD # 197)
