It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mike Louismet on August 9, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, following a brief illness. Mike was born on February 17, 1956 and was known for his unfailing kindness, his contagious laughter, and his unfaltering love for his family. He was a polite, caring, loving, and funny individual, traits that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents: Al and Marion (Dassner) Louismet; his son: Nate, and sister: Diane. Mike is survived by his beloved wife: Ellen, his children: Mike (Karla), Mindy (Danny), Callie (Brian), Heidi (Jason), Dan (Nikki) and Jodi (Travis); daughter-in-law: Sarah; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; 1 sister; many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved canine Josie. His absence will be profoundly felt by his family.
Mike had a variety of interests that brought him joy in life. He loved to dine at Olive Garden and listen to the Eagles. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and enjoyed challenging his family and friends to a good game of Cribbage. He spent time traveling to various vacation spots but particularly enjoyed the beautiful landscapes of Kauai HI. In 2023, Mike and Ellen fulfilled their dream of moving to Chetek WI to enjoy their time together, relaxing on the pontoon while listening to the oldies where he was “dialed in”.
His love for fast cars was undeniable and matched only by his dedication to work. Mike was proud to be a retired member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 10, a feat that stands among his greatest accomplishments. But his sweetness, his ability to make people smile and his lessons on being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather will be his most enduring legacy.
In Mike's memory, let us remember not just the man he was, but the kindness he shared, the laughter he spread, and the love he gave. His life was rich with experiences and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Words cannot express how grateful we are to Interim Hospice for the kind and loving care that was given to our husband and father in his final days. We appreciate your compassionate team and all you have done for us.
A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion, 2210 3rd St, White Bear Lake, MN 55110 on August 23, 2024, from 5-8 pm with a memorial service taking place at 5:30 PM.
