Michael "Mike, Mikey" J. Luttrell, 35, of Niles, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital on Monday, August 18, 2025
Born on July 5, 1990, in Dowagiac, Michigan, Michael was the son of Kathleen "Kathy" Rockwell and Michael Luttrell. He was engaged to his beloved fiancée, Brooke Needham, who survives. He leaves behind his cherished children, Hunter and Madalynn Luttrell; his sister, Sarah (Jeff) Martin, along with their children Jace, Grace, Aycen, and Brandon; his grandparents Sandra (William) Morse, his Uncle Mike (Vickie) Rockwell of Dowagiac, Hunter's mom Randi Rutkowski and her daughter Oakley; and his loyal dogs, Thor and Rocky. Michael will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many other extended family members and close friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Danny Collins, and his grandparents Loran and Barbara Rockwell and Archie Luttrell.
Michael will be remembered for his selfless heart and desire to be helpful and kind. Though he never settled on a single "true calling," he found meaning in working with his hands, fixing and tinkering, consistently lending help to family and friends. His happiest moments were spent with family and friends---especially playing with his children, niece, and nephews and attending their sporting and school events.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and grilling. Known for his skill at finding morel mushrooms and his tendency to use "just a little too much" seasoning in the kitchen, he was an excellent cook. Mike brought both joy and laughter to those around him. A passionate fan of the University of Michigan and the Chicago Bears, he never missed a chance to cheer proudly and to good-naturedly tease anyone rooting for rival teams.
Above all, Michael was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His laughter, love, and steady presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Michael's life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30, at Michiana Community Church located at 51637 Ash Rd, Granger, IN 46530 with a service immediately following. Michael's family encourages friends and family who can wear their U of M, Chicago Bears or favorite team apparel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support Hunter and Madalynn with their sports and extracurricular activities.
