Michael D. Marie

Mr. Michael D. Marie of Cibolo, Texas passed away on December 22 at 9:55 PM. Mr. Marie was born in Lincoln, Illinois, September 18, 1941. He was the son of Edmund and Hazel Marie of Peoria, Illinois and stepfather Ernest Self of Peoria.
Mr. Marie was a graduate of Manuel High School in Peoria, Illinois, and after graduating, he joined the Air Force where he served a 20-year career. While based at Clinton Sherman AFB in Oklahoma, he met his future wife, Phyllis Morrison. After he returned from an overseas tour in Korea, they were married in May of 1964 at First Baptist Church in Burns Flat, Oklahoma and they were married for 61 years.
In 1965 they welcomed their first child, Scott Marie and in 1967, welcomed their second child, daughter Tracy Huffman.
While in the military, they were stationed at various state side bases as well as overseas assignments in Germany and Iceland. In 1977 he was based at Randolph AFB until he retired in 1980. While serving, he also served various rolls at different Baptist churches during his career.
After his military career, he earned in B.S Public Administration and worked as a funeral assistant in Converse. Mr. Marie also worked briefly as a member services representative at RBFCU. He served for 18 years as a volunteer national EMT/paramedic for converse fire/EMS as well. While on EMS, he also served his community as a Converse City Councilman from 1991-1997. During this time, he worked at RAFB family medical clinic and at Wilford Hall Medical Center ER until his civil service retirement in 2003 due to increasing health issues. Mr. Marie spent 5 years on kidney dialysis until he received a kidney transplant which lasted 34 years until having to go back on dialysis on 2022 until his death.
Besides his wife, Mr. Marie leaves behind his children, Scott Marie (Stephanie) of Gainesville, GA, and Tracy Huffman (Richard) of Cibolo, TX, his 5 grandchildren, Ashley McCalla (James), Taylor Huffman, Joshua Huffman, Rebecca Marie, and Daniel Marie and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Fresenius dialysis personnel at Fresenius Kidney Care of Schertz, TX for their kind friendship and patience and mental clarity during his illness.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 3:00 PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 4:00 PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Gideons International.
