Captain Michael Ryan McCaddon, M.D., U.S. Army, 37, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2012 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born in Tampa, Florida on June 20, 1974 to his birth father David Merchant and mother Randi (Colcord) McCaddon, later raised by his adopted father Michael D. McCaddon of Clifton, Kansas. He graduated from Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences earning his Medical Degree in 2010, in addition to his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Arizona State University achieved in 2004. He was very active in JROTC at Tolleson High School (Phoenix, Arizona) graduating in 1992. Michael enlisted in the Army in 1992 as a bomb technician in an Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team where he deployed twice to Bosnia serving his country honorably. He also served with a Secret Service detail and was a first responder to the Oklahoma City Bombings. Michael loved to skydive, snorkel, hike, deliver babies, perform surgery, and most of all be with his children whom he loved and cherished. He was a wonderful father, dedicated husband, loving son, caring brother, and loyal friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 11 years, Leslie (Grund) McCaddon, his three adoring children, Kyler, Madeleine, and Lucas; two sisters, Kristine and Heather; his grandparents, Lois Merchant, and Glendora McCaddon: and his five nephews. Captian McCaddon was predeceased by his father, David Merchant, grandfathers Temple Merchant, Ralph McCaddon, Russell Colcord and his grandmother Ruth Colcord. Visiting hours will be in the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main Street, Rockport, MA on Monday, April 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
