Michael T. McCaffery

Michael McCaffery, 67, of Lebanon, passed peacefully on August 12, 2025 at home. He lived life with a generous heart and a contagious passion, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He met the love of his life, Mandy, while working at the Hershey Medical Center. Theirs is the love fairytales are based on, fueled by rides on high octane Harley Davidson bikes, moviecations, and countless sticky (love) notes. Together they traveled the lower 48, flew across the pond to the UK, and cuddled with their teacup Yorkshire Terrier Pixie. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mandy; parents, Clair and Carlene Markey; and his children and their families: Sabrinah and her husband Eric Chappell, with children Alora and August; Deavon and his wife Tiffany Wang; Chelsea and her husband Anthony Williams, with children Nash, Indy, Benjamin, and daughter due to arrive in September. He had a storied career working over four decades for Penn State Health at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. First, as a prototype machinist, he designed unique equipment, medical devices, and sophisticated surgical tools, contributing to the design of the artificial heart and the invention of a unique scalpel used in pathology. Later, as a telecommunications engineer he was instrumental in improving E911 services for large facilities. His hobbies included sailing, flying RC and SIMs, motorcycling, and any excuse to spend time in his Kubota tractor with his beloved Pixie, by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11AM from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 125 S. Spruce St., Annville. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8PM at Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville with the Rosary recited at 7:45pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church at the above listed address in his memory.
