Michael John McCarthy, 79, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday April 18, 2024 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was the son the late Fredrick Lyons McCarthy and Angela Campbell McCarthy, and brother of Fredrick Lyons McCarthy, Jr.
Michael graduated from Council Rock High School in Newtown, Bucks County, PA and attended Parsons College of Fairfield, IA. Following graduation Michael served in the US Army from August 1966 until December 1977- attaining the rank of Captain. During his time of enlistment, Michael served as a helicopter Pilot during Vietnam from 1968 until 1969- where he was decorated three times for his Heroism. Following his honorable discharge, Michael was able to enjoy the finer things in life. He was an avid golfer who found peace on the course- and was very proud of his 4 hole in-ones! Michael was a faithful man and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed.
Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Marie McCarthy of Murrells Inlet; their son, Devyn Michael McCarthy and his wife, Stephanie; as well as many loving cousins; and many supportive friends and extended family.
