Michael G. McGavin

Michael G. McGavin was born on July 24, 1949 to William and Doris McGavin in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away on January 10, 2026 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Vickie of 53 years. Loving father of Jeffrey (Jodie), Jason (Dawn) and Michael (Sara). Proud grandfather of Michael, Anna, Callaghan, Brayden, Audrey and AJ. Dear brother of the late Bernard (JoAnn and Ivan Perez), the late Barbara Fabian, the late Thomas (Carol), Shirley (Ted) Wilson, the late Dolores Roach, the late Terrence, Karen (the late Mike) Vermiglio, the late Janice (the late Richard) Haskins and the late Kathleen (Daniel) Devine. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mike graduated from De La Salle Collegiate in 1968 and spent most of his career as a Union Painter and tradesman for over 30 years. He married Vickie on March 17th, 1972 and built a life centered around his wife, kids, family, and friends. Mike was a lifelong sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers. He shared his passion for sports by coaching his kids' baseball teams. Most of the players he coached went on to play in college and some professionally. Later in life, "Papa" was a fixture on the sidelines of his grandkids' sporting events like his old coaching days. He was fiercely loyal to Vickie and dedicated his life to his family and friends. Mike lived a blessed life and will be greatly missed.
