Our beloved Michael Douglas McGinty. Son, brother, Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and friend. Michael was born July 10th, 1947 to Clifford and Betty McGinty. He was raised in Jacksonville with ties to the area going back to the early 1900’s. He is survived by his wife Carol, his children Jeff and Christianne, his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Michael was an avid outdoorsman, a train hobbyist, painter, fisher, builder, thinker and tinkerer.

Early in life he studied at The Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath for engineering. Out of college he worked on the Dam at Lost Creek Lake. He later would go to University of Oregon and Southern Oregon University to study art.

He was a Surveyor on and off for many years. Michael was also a founding member of the Medford Railroad Park.

None of his many accomplishments were more important to him than when he gave his life to the Lord. He was a Deacon, an Elder, and an amazing Brother in Christ. He absolutely loved the Lord. Michael loved listening to the Word, studying it with his wife and friends, and praying for everyone in his life. Waking up every morning to start his day by making their coffee, he and Carol would then sit, holding hands, and enjoy opening the Bible. Diving into the Word and praying for everyone on their hearts that day. He was a leader in Faith to his family, a rock for everyone who knew him. He was loving, calm, kind and caring.

If you stopped by to see him, you might find him out working on his pond and admiring the koi fish or maybe in the living room watching Jack Hibbs. He would welcome you in with a warm smile. Michael could talk and tell stories for hours. He had such a peaceful way about him, it was easy to lose track of the time.

With Michael by their sides, he blessed his family with his beautiful train village decorated Christmas trees, 4th of July’s at the lake and BBQ gatherings in the backyard. He never missed a party, holiday or graduation. If you called, he always answered, though he might tell you in depth about his day and make you forget why you had called in the first place.

He hated beans, ate his hot dogs grilled and split down the middle. He loved his tabby cat Mango, praised the Lord with his hands held high, loved doodling, ducks, chopping wood and holding hands. He loved his family and always made sure they knew it. There is no one like him. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

His friends and family find comfort knowing he is home with the Lord, happy and healthy, and that they will all be reunited with him in Heaven.

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” Amen.

A Memorial service will be held at Memory Garden on March 16th at 10:00am.
