Michael Stephen "Mike" McLoughlin

Michael "Mike" Stephen McLoughlin, 72, of Chesapeake, passed away on December 9, 2024
Born on July 3, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, Mike was the fourth of seven children to William and June McLoughlin. He attended Saint Leo's Catholic School, Christ the King Catholic School, and graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in 1970.
Mike enjoyed a diverse career, working with Kroger in Ohio before moving to Virginia to manage Food Lion stores. He also worked as a manager at Wilco, restaurant entrepreneur and later found great joy working at Topgolf during retirement.
Mike's passions included golf, great food, and spending time with family and friends. Known for his humor, kindness, and infectious energy, he brought light to every room he entered. Above all, he adored his family and loved his role as a devoted husband, father, and pet dad to Tanner and Freddie.
A man of faith and service, Mike was a former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, served in the National Guard, and was a parishioner Saint Matthew's Catholic Church. He took great pride in volunteering at St. Matthew's Catholic School. He was known for his signature line, "Glad you could see me again!"
Mike is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Ashley, Amanda, and Shane; siblings, Joann LaRocco, William (Bill) McLoughlin, Marilyn (Sue) Smith, Margaret (Margy) Farrin, and James (Jim) McLoughlin; and numerous extended family members. He is reunited with his parents, William and June; sister, Kathleen "Kathy" DiFrancesco; and his brother-in-law, Rich LaRocco.
The family is deeply grateful to the many doctors and nurses, especially at Chesapeake Regional Hospital, and to everyone who provided care and support throughout Mike's health journey.
Mike's love, laughter, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A viewing and reception will be held at Saint Matthew's Catholic Church on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mike's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
