Michael Denis McMonagle, aged 60, of Laingsburg formerly of Fowlerville, passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 310 N. Crum St., Laingsburg, Michigan 48848. Rev. Fr. Anthony Brooks will celebrate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the Mass.

Born on May 6, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan, Michael was a cherished son to Robert D. and Therese J. (Izo) McMonagle. He grew up in a lively household with his siblings Patrick, Daniel, Karen, and Kathleen, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

A proud 1983 graduate of Lansing Catholic Central High School, Michael carried his passion for learning and community into his adult life. He furthered his education at Lansing Community College transferring and earning his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in 1988. His commitment to education laid a strong foundation for a career defined by service to others.

For over a decade, Michael dedicated himself to the role of family service counselor at East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos. His work was more than a job; it was a calling. Michael stood as a pillar of support for the bereaved, guiding them with empathy and understanding as they navigated their most challenging times. His precise and loving nature in handling final wishes earned him the deep respect and gratitude of the community he served.

Michael's legacy is one of compassion and friendship, a testament to a life lived with a gentle and loving spirit. His colleagues, friends, and the many families he assisted will forever cherish the impact he made on their lives.

An avid sports enthusiast, Michael's love for the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Michigan Wolverines was well known among his family and friends. He found joy and relaxation in fishing, a pastime that allowed him to revel in the serenity of nature.

Michael's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and his approach to the world around him. It was this faith that shone brightly in his daily interactions and his unwavering commitment to his community.

He leaves behind a loving family: his children, Allan McMonagle and Joanna McMonagle; his mother, Therese; his siblings, Daniel McMonagle, Karen (Brian) DeVries, and Kathleen (Scott) Penny; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Each of them carries forward a piece of Michael's generous spirit. He was welcomed into his savior's arms alongside his father who passed in 2020 and his brother, Patrick who passed in 2021.

Those desiring may make donations in his name to the Lansing City Rescue Mission, 2216 S. Cedar St., Lansing, MI 48910 or at bearescuer.org or to St. Isidore Catholic Church, 310 N. Crum St., Laingsburg, MI 48848.
