Michael H. McVan
12/30/1954 - 8/1/2021
Born and raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania to Irish Catholic parents, Mike is survived by his wife Deborah, son Jesse, daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Austin (and their dog Ragnar "Rudy"), 2 brothers, identical twin Patrick McVan & family, brother Brian & Jan McVan & family, 3 sisters, Mary Ann & Bill Worthington & family, Eileen & Keith Koennecke & family and sister Bridget & Deb McVan & family, and many family members and friends. He lived in Harrison, New York and moved to Wellington, Florida in 2001 and was a real estate investor and sports/fitness inventor. He held a degree in Criminology and was a weight lifter, body builder, boxer and gym enthusiast who owned and operated several gyms.
A devoted husband and father, the best soul I've ever known, to talk of my father in past tense seems unreal. He was the strongest man I've ever known; mind, body and soul. He took care of his family and put everyone's wants and needs before his own. He was the definition of selfless. The best husband to my mother and the greatest father to my brother and I. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his humor and positive outlook on life. His enduring strength carried him through life, and enabled him to give confidence and hope to all those he encountered. He prayed the rosary daily. He prayed for many people and helped many souls on this earth grow closer to God. We truly believe he was saint-like.
His devotion to the blessed Virgin Mary was ever present in his life. He spent many hours a day in prayer and in studying Catholicism. Mass is something he would never miss. I can't understand why God would take the best man I've ever known, but he clearly was too good for this earth. I know every moment of his life was spent to good use. We believe he was in a state of Grace. He brought me and many people out of many sins, encouraged us to pray, go to mass and confession, and spoke to my mother, brother, husband and I daily for years about God and faith. He gave countless people advice and comfort. My brother lost his best friend as did I. The worst part of this is my mother lost her best friend and soul mate whom she shared over 40 years with. All they had on this earth was each other, and now my mother lost her better half.
This unimaginable loss for her is unbearable and horrific.
We weep and mourn for his physical body, but deep down we know his soul is at peace and is helping us through heaven as a saint. He's with his loving parents now and many other family members and friends. The times we live in are diabolical times, covid is a sure evil. The bottom line is there is good and there is evil. The rest of my life I'll be pursuing the truth surrounding his death and covid, and not letting his death be in vain. We are still the fearsome fivesome, just now he's in heaven. His life was a testament to purity, God and truth. All we can do is be strong for him and ask ourselves in any given situation what he would do. It's simple: have faith, believe in God, pray and be strong. We love you dad with our whole hearts and souls, you'll be forever missed deeply. We won't let you down, and we'll continue to advocate for those in need. You'll always be in our hearts. We know heaven gained a warrior Angel where you're helping souls fight the good fight.
