Michael Meeks, age 62, of Michigan City went to be with Jesus after a hard-fought battle with kidney disease on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Jan. 30, 1962, in Michigan City, Indiana, to M.W. "Sonny" and Shirley Meeks.
Mike is survived by his children, Jessica (Chad) Solomon, Annessa (Chris) Salat, Dustin Meeks, Michael Meeks Jr. and Tressie Meeks; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sister, Lisa (Keith) Blacksten; and caring mother, Shirley Meeks. He is preceded in death by his father, M.W. "Sunny" Meeks; and sisters, Teresa Fossburgh and Susan Genge.
Mike loved music. He enjoyed karaoke, playing his guitar, and fishing and loved to gather with his family. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Adam Jr. Everything revolved around spending time with his family. He loved his dad and missed him very much.
Private services will be held for the family.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Michael's name to the National Kidney Foundation.
