Michael Mignosa Obituary

Michael Mignosa, age 70, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on September 30, 1955 in Quincy, Massachusetts, he was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1973. As a snowbird, he split his time between Port Charlotte, FL, Laconia, NH, and Saco, ME.

An entrepreneur from a young age, he started working on cars as a teenager first under the name Mike's Auto, and then in 1983 he founded FNA Transmission. Determined and hardworking, Mike built the business from an empty lot into a respected and successful company. A proud man who demanded the very best, he would often say "The right way and the easy way are rarely the same."

He loved spending time with Reese, Payton, and Maddox, teaching them new skills and running "Grampy and Lala school." Most of all, he loved his adventures with his partner-in-crime, Carol. Together they traveled, ate good food, made lasting friends, and laughed every single day.

Mike was quick to crack a bad joke and a Budweiser. A wise, generous and thoughtful man, he was always a call away and could fix any problem you had. After retirement you could find him flying planes, riding motorcycles, driving cool cars, or out on the water, where he loved to sit and watch the sun rise or set. The lyrics to "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd are how he lived his life. He was a simple man who lived a big, beautiful life.

Mike leaves behind many who are brokenhearted over his passing. Those who truly knew Mike will feel his absence keenly.

Mike is survived by his soulmate Carol Gadsby, his daughters Christina Mignosa of Warwick, RI, and Cassandra (Mignosa) Crombie and her husband Steven Crombie Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL, and his grandchildren Reese age 8, Payton age 4, and Maddox age 2.

He is also survived by his mother Marjorie (Davenport) Mignosa of Port Charlotte, FL, and by his siblings Thomas and Nancy Mignosa, Annemarie (Mignosa) Czarnota and John Czarnota, Gregory Mignosa, Maribeth (Mignosa) Coon and Michael Coon, and Douglas and Kara Mignosa.

He was predeceased by his father Santo Mignosa and his sisters Janice Mignosa Frye and Marilyn Mignosa Doherty.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
