Michael Money Obituary

Michael F. Money
Michael Flanagan Money, 64, of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike is predeceased by his wife Patricia Ford Money. He is survived by his three cherished children: Michael Ford Money of Naples, Florida; William Paul Money and Billy's wife Emily, of Phoenix, Arizona; and Julia Rose Money of Buffalo, New York. Mike is also survived by his six brothers and sisters (and their spouses): Mary Money (Dr. Matt Leonard) of Fairfield; Ralph Chip Money (Laura Babala) of Ridgefield; James Money (Ivana) of Bridgeport; Catherine Katie Money of Black Rock; Ann Money (Richard Votto) and Teresa Money McLaughlin (Dennis McLaughlin) both of Milford.
Mike is also survived and loved by Tricia's mom, Barbara Ford, of Fairfield and Tricia's six brothers and sisters (and their spouses): Ann Ford Roach (Timothy Roach) of Fairfield; P. Sarsfield Ford of Middletown; Terrence Ford (Christine) of Richmond, Virginia; Jane Ford Shaw (C.R. Shaw) of Newtown; Mary Margaret Ford Schiede (Daniel Schiede) of Massapequa, New York; and Daniel Ford (Leslie Ford) of Fairfield.
In addition, he leaves behind 26 nieces and nephews, dozens of first and second cousins, and a close-knit group of friends, particularly those from his childhood in Black Rock.
In addition to his wife Tricia, Mike is predeceased by his parents Ralph J. Money Jr. and T. Dorothy Flanagan Money and by his father-in-law, the Honorable G. Sarsfield Ford.
Mike was born and raised in Bridgeport and was the third of seven children of Ralph and Dorothy. He graduated from St. Ann's School and Fairfield Prep, received his Bachelor of Science from Fairfield University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston, and, recently, completed his Juris Doctorate degree from Fordham University School of Law. He enjoyed being a frequent guest lecturer on college campuses, especially St. Bonaventure University.
Mike was a pioneer and global expert in the information security industry with nearly 40 years of experience in information technology and risk management. His clients included Fortune 100 companies as well as government agencies including the Departments of Justice and Defense and the Federal Reserve Board. He was widely respected in his field, authored numerous articles in professional journals, and was a popular and much requested speaker at international conferences.
He began his professional career with KPMG and Chase Manhattan Bank before transitioning to Union Carbide Corporation, where he served as an information security manager. He was later recruited to Protiviti where he played a key role in building the firm's security and privacy practice, serving as a principal and senior consultant. Later in his career he established a private consultancy practice and began working with leaders in the healthcare industry on initiatives to enhance data security and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Mike coached multiple sports but had a deep passion for baseball. He especially enjoyed road trips with family and friends to ballparks, concerts, museums, and historical war sites. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by loved ones, enjoying music and sports-particularly cheering for his Yankees-and sharing stories and heartfelt laughter.
Mike was an active officer and member of numerous civic, social, cultural, and professional organizations including: the SS Norden Club; BPO Elks Lodge #36 of Bridgeport; Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Post 1462 of Black Rock; Black Rock Little League (Past President); Gaelic American Club of Fairfield; InfraGard National Members Alliance; Information Systems Security Association (Past Treasurer); International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium; and the New York Bar Association.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, on Monday, January 6, 2025, directly at 10:00 a.m. The principal celebrant will be Mike's cousin, Rev.
