Michael Louis Murphy

POUGHKEEPSIE – Michael Louis Murphy, 59, a lifelong area resident, passed away at home on December 12, 2022.
Michael was born in Poughkeepsie on June 4, 1963. In 1982 he graduated with honors from Denver Automotive and Diesel College of Colorado. It was an accelerated automobile technician program. He retired as a bus mechanic from the New York State Department of Transportation in Wappingers Falls after over 30 years of service.
An avid outdoorsman, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, and riding motorcycles, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles. He also liked to cook.
One June 29, 1985, he married Cindy (Jamieson) Murphy who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Heather Murphy, Trevor Murphy, and Casey Murphy; his mother, Lorraine (DePaulo) Murphy; his brothers, Patrick Murphy and his wife Bonnie and Mark Murphy; his dogs, Texas, Nala, and Ozzie; his grand cats, Sunshine, Ellie, and Miss Kitty; and his grand horse, Tigerlily. He also leaves behind other family and friends to cherish the memories. Michael was predeceased by his father, Patrick Murphy; and his daughter, daughter Jessica Murphy.
Donations can be made for his Celebration of Life in the spring and his final expenses via GoFundMe: Michael Murphy.. When arrangements are made for his party everyone will be informed. He would want to celebrate his life with his all his many friends and family that loved him.
Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, December 30th from 4 - 7 pm with a funeral service beginning at 4 pm.
