Mike had been a beloved resident of Mineola for more than 40 years. A Marine through and through, Mike carried himself with strength, discipline, and an unshakable sense of duty. Though he could be a hard man at times, those who knew him best knew that beneath that toughness was a deeply good man with a generous heart.
Mike found his greatest peace outdoors on his property, where he loved gardening, raising his animals, and simply being surrounded by the land he cared for. His fire pit was his special place of solace and happiness—a place where he reflected, found comfort, and enjoyed quiet moments of gratitude. Nothing meant more to Mike than having his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren nearby, whether working together, playing, or gathering for the joy and fellowship of large family Thanksgivings and Christmas celebrations.
Mike had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved the Lord deeply and was a devoted member of New Life United Pentecostal Church in Mineola, Texas. His favorite song, “How Great Thou Art” by Elvis Presley, reflected the faith and reverence that guided his life.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents who raised him, Perry Clint and Alice Amanda Nash; his wife, Cynthia Nash; his son, John Michael Nash; his daughter, Amelia Nicole Nash; and his brother, John Nash.
He is survived by his sons, Perry Nash and wife Kelli, and Robert Nash and wife Margo and Darin Shawn Barton; his daughters Rosa Matheson and her husband James, Christine Fortenberry and her husband Shawn, and April Walters and her husband Blake; his sister, Linda Darlene Kirk; and his grandchildren: Victoria, Jacob, Amelia, Thomas, Landen, Aaron, Michael, Jordan, Sarah, Elizabeth, Nathan, Austin, Aiden, EmmaLee, Autumn, and Isabella. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Zane, Alexis, Titus, Iris, Jericho, and Elizabeth, as well as many loved and cherished nieces and nephews.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, hard work, and love for family—a man whose presence was steady, whose help was freely given, and whose memory will forever be carried in the hearts of those who loved him.
