Sad to hear of Mike's passing. Having had the opportunity to associate and work with Mike over the years has been a great blessing. He is pure gold. Bishop Burton has said that "The things we do for our yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy. Mike's legacy is his example of love and service to his Savior and to his neighbor. We will miss you Mike. Until we meet again.

Oh, this news is hard to here! I´m so sorry that we have lost this good soul, Michael Neilson. I send sincere condolences and prayers of comfort to his family. How lucky each person was to count Mike as their friend. He made anyone he was talking with feel like they were his best friend, because he genuinely loved others. How I loved running into Mike and striking up a fun conversation and catching up on each other´s life. He was always so cordial and no matter how long it had been, he always remembered what we had talked about the last time we had met. He loved Smithfield and loved the people of Smithfield . . . he was proud of his heritage . . . I loved that about him. He was one of the first friends I had who "left on a mission." We missed him so much. He also helped me with all of my travel reservations all those years ago. Heaven is lucky to receive this good man! So many will be so happy to see him! Thank you, Michael, for being such a good friend to me in this life. You will be missed. Sincerely, Mary Jo Hansen (a friend from "the old Second Ward")

Mike left a legacy of service to the Lord and was a blessing to the Smithfield Stake members. He was a loyal and devoted friend and an example to all. I will miss our talks for the time being being. We love you
