I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mike, a very special person. Due to the fact that we worked on different campuses, I did not know Mike as well as many people at The Out-Of-Door Academy did, but I had a chance to observe him on many occasions and was impressed with his warmth, sense of humor and total commitment to his profession.
I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the members of his immediate family. I know for you, this is a loss beyond the scope that any of the rest of us can comprehend. The cruel part of this event in the fact that Mike was lost at such an early age. I am so saddened by the thought of all that he will miss while separated from his wonderful family. There will be times when you will so wish that he was there to share a triumph of your life or to be there to help you with a problem in a way that only he could.
I am sure your grieving is intense at this time, but my experiences have taught me that as time goes on, the goodness of the deeds and character of the person we have lost endures, grows and gives us strength to live our lives in a fashion that honors our lost loved one.
One defining moment that will remind me of the special man Mike was took place during a commencement speech that he gave to the seniors at ODA a long time ago. As he was delivering the speech, it began to bother him that the people (graduating seniors) he wanted to direct his address to were behind him on the stage. He apologized and turned around, preceding to complete the whole address with his back to the audience. I remember thinking at the time that he had a lot of guts to do that, and at the same time had his priorities right, the most important people in that assembly were those kids getting their diplomas.
Mike, it was an honor to be a colleague of yours. Thank you for the positive influence you had on so many peopl

I am so sorry to hear of your passing, Mike. May your family find peace and comfort during this difficult time. You will always be remembered by this classmate. First days of school they used to call our names wrong. RIP Mike!!! BMHS Class of 85.
