Mike Paddock was born on October 13, 1947, in Odessa, Texas, to William and Elvira Paddock, and passed away on May 4, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 77.
Mike spent his early years in Odessa, where he attended school through high school. He was a proud member of the 1965 Permian Panthers State Champion Football team, a memory he cherished throughout his life. He continued his academic and athletic journey at the University of Arkansas, where he earned his law degree.
Mike was the devoted father of two daughters, Mary Katherine and Courtney. After moving to Fort Worth, he began his legal career working for the District Attorney’s office before opening his own private practice, which he led successfully until his retirement 15 years ago.
A lifelong learner, Mike was known for his sharp intellect, dry wit, and the deep respect he earned among his peers in the Fort Worth legal community. Practicing law was his passion, and he built many lasting relationships throughout his career.
Mike never lost touch with his Odessa roots. He remained close with his Permian football teammates, staying in weekly contact and sharing stories of their glory days—running the sand hills, enduring grueling practices in the West Texas heat, and celebrating their championship victory. These memories were a source of joy for him, and each retelling revealed something new about the deep bond he shared with those friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elvira, and his brother, Buckley. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Katherine (and her husband, Cole Cayce) and Courtney (and her husband, Sean Button), as well as his beloved grandchildren: Campbell and Will Cayce, Sam and Emma Button.
A private family service will be held at a later date in accordance with Mike’s wishes.
