Michael E. Paetow
October 13, 2024
Michael E. Paetow, 72, of Liverpool, passed away on Sunday, as the result of an auto accident. He was born June 9, 1952 in Syracuse, NY and resided in the area all of his life. Mike graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High School and after a brief period of bartending and car repair, he married his longtime sweetheart, Sharon Shoultz. Together they built their dream home on Hitchcock Point Rd. Oneida Lake, Bridgeport, NY.
Mike worked for many car dealerships in Syracuse before settling in with the Ford Motor Company's Fleet Leasing and Credit departments. He worked similar jobs after retiring from Ford and attributed his success to his salesmanship skills and love of people.
Mike's true joys were found outside of work. He had many toys over the years and became a Cessna plane pilot and Harley Davidson rider but his real love was boating. Michael was a lifetime member of the Syracuse Power Squadron serving in many leadership positions to promote boaters' safety. Mike spent his last 10 summers at the Clayton Yacht Club aboard his boat, donating much e?ort and time to the club; building its membership, improving the grounds and working the annual lobster bake.
Mike is survived by a daughter, Mallory (Nick) McCarroll of Gloversville; sisters, Michele Paetow of Fabius Milissa Monroe of Glens Falls; three grandchildren, a niece and nephew and three cousins. He also leaves behind his former wife and friend, Ann Schmitt and like-a-brother best friend of 50 years, Benny Diblasio.
In his passing, Mike is reunited with loved ones who went before him: his wife Sharon Paetow, his parents, George Edward and Carol Boyd Paetow, an infant sister, Monique Ann Paetow and a special uncle, William A. Boyd.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at R. H. Schepp Minoa Funeral Home and Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Rd., Minoa, NY on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.
Memorial contributions can be made in Mike's memory to Hospice in Syracuse. Mike was always grateful for the help he received during his wife, Sharon's, illness.
Mike will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.
