Michael Palmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 22, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Michael Glenn Palmer. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Sheldon and his mother, Lois (Greene). He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Renae (Michelson), two sons, Bill (Stacy) Fitzer, and Mikey (Jenny) Palmer, and four adoring grandchildren, Julia (Chandler) Vowell, Amanda Fitzer, Olivia Fitzer, and Jenson Palmer to carry on his legacy. He is also survived by his siblings, David (Diane) Palmer, Shelley McLaughlin, and Judi Palmer. Mike was a Vietnam U.S Army veteran filled with pride for his military service. He grew up in the Joliet area and began his hardworking career working on cars at Palmer's Garage then as a Teamsters Union member and warehouse manager/truck driver at Joliet Valves/McJunkin. After many years in Illinois, he relocated to Peoria, Arizona, where he and Renae enjoyed 18 wonderful years. In 2023, Mike and Renae moved to All Seasons, Rochester Hills in Michigan. It is here where he found a new community, wonderful neighbors, and countless friendships. Known for his charm, kindness, and humor, he quickly became the most popular guy there, touching the hearts of everyone around him. Mike had a deep love for life and good food-he was always ready for a great meal with a big smile on his face. His well-known hearty hand shakes, bear hugs, and his saying, "It's aight," perfectly reflected his outward loving, laid-back, and optimistic nature. May you rest easy. You were truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you. An honoring of service, memorial, and celebration of life will be announced and take place at a future date to be determined.
