Smith Funeral & Cremation ServiceMichael Palmieri was born in West Orange, New Jersey on January 31, 1943, the youngest of Michael and Angelina (Battista) Palmieri’s three children. They, along with his sister Dorothy (Palmieri) Doyle and brother Edward Palmieri, preceded him in death. He passed on September 27, 2025 in Spartanburg, South Carolina at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Hartogsohn Palmieri; children, Melissa (Shriner) Kubat, Leah Palmieri-Guy, and Brian Palmieri; and grandchildren Anna Kubat, Ben Kubat, Ella Isenhart-Palmieri, and Quinn Palmieri-Guy.
Throughout his life, Michael left a lasting and endearing impression on those who got to know him. He was a talented musician and mentor who, more than anything, loved his family. His career path was diverse—spanning music, cars, and foodservice operations. To his employees, he was a demanding but compassionate leader. To his fellow musicians, he was a passionate (if plain-spoken) advocate. To his family, he was a fiercely loyal husband, father, and grandfather who could always make us laugh. He was one of a kind and is deeply missed.
A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, November 08, 2025 at the Grandview Cemetery Pavilion starting at 1:00 PM. Condolences may be shared through Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com
