Indianapolis - Michael Patrick "Mike" Pettigrew, 63, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021. He was born April 2, 1958 in Anderson, IN to Yvonne Covington and the late Boyd Pettigrew. He was employed by AAA Roofing where he served as a roofer for 43 years. Mike took great pride in any job he set out to accomplish. In addition to working as a roofer, he was also a certified heavy machine operator and crane operator. Additionally, he obtained his commercial driver's license. Mike worked throughout the Indianapolis area on some of the community's most notable buildings. He was a Jehovah's Witness.
Mike's family described him as a man who would help anyone in any way that he could. If someone approached him with a question, Mike typically had the answer. And if he didn't, he would research the topic until he found the answer. He was like a father to many.
Mike loved the Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed the great outdoors and was very respectful of nature. He had many interests, but there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family. Mike shared a love like no other with his wife of 37 years, Terrie. He loved and raised Terrie's daughter and they were very close. They loved fixing things together.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Pettigrew; brothers, Steven and Douglas Pettigrew; and sister, Cindy Pettigrew. He is survived by his beloved wife, Terrie Pettigrew; mother, Yvonne Covington; daughter, Tara Collins and her husband, Ernest; siblings, Terry Mollenkopf and Jeffrey and Kevin Pettigrew; grandchildren: Troy, Faith, Jacob, Charles, Johnny, Hope, Kendra and Jakob; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
Mike's family will receive friends Monday, November 8, 2021, from 3 – 5 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 5 pm.
