Michael Jay "Mike" Pettit

Michael Jay "Mike" Pettit, age 79, of Xenia, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Miami Valley Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He was born November 2, 1945, in Jamestown, Ohio, the son of the late Milton and Gertrude (Coss) Pettit. Mike was a 1963 Graduate of Greeneview High School where he was a standout athlete in Track, Football and Basketball. In his professional life, he owned and operated Hair Limits in Xenia and Cedarville. Among his many hobbies, Mike enjoyed cooking and was known for his pies. He also enjoyed watching college sports, Fox News, and the History Channel. But most of all, Mike loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his joy in life. Mike is survived by his wife, Janet (Stephens) Pettit; son Bret (Sandy) Pettit of Florida; daughter Kelli (Casey) Figgins of Greenfield; step-daughter Tonya (Steve) Rivera of Xenia; special niece Krisanne (Donnie) Shinkle of Jamestown; grandchildren, Trevor (Savannah) Figgins, McKenzie Figgins, Tanner Pettit, Aaron Jones, and Matthew Stamper; great grandchildren, Iris, Briar, Rosalee, Aiven, and Aaliyah; special friends Don, Dave, Mike, and Kenny; along with many more friends. In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick Pettit and his wife Donna, and Ned Pettit and his wife Becky. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Powers-Kell Funeral Home, Jamestown. Lee Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Silver Creek Township New Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
