Michael Phillips Obituary

Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late Posey and Nannie Harbin Phillips.
A man of great honor and dedication, Mr. Phillips proudly served in the U.S. Army, embodying bravery, and loyalty throughout his years of service. Mike continued his public service as a Greenville County Sheriff's Deputy, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, and City Administrator in various communities throughout the Southeast. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mary, he is survived by sons, Michael Phillips Jr. (Casey Lynn) and Matthew Brian Phillips (Monica); daughter, Monica Lynn Feil (Brian); grandchildren, Christopher Feil (Nadia), Robert Feil, Ethan Phillips, Carter Phillips, and Lucy Phillips; great-grandson, Lincoln Feil; and brothers, Jerry Phillips, and Tony Phillips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Joan "Cissy" Bishop.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joy Comes (community outreach) for an appreciation project to touch the caregivers at the Linley Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Anderson. Those that wish to donate can do so through Joy Comes clicking on "Donate" and select "Mike Phillips Memorial Project".

Mike shared an office space with me in the basement of City Hall when he was Emergency Preparedness Director of Greenville. As the Greenville E 911 project grew we eventually took over the entire space. Mike was a very hard, determined worker. Peace and Love to his wife and family.
