Michael Reed Poliquin, 80, of St. Louis MO, passed away on Tuesday November 25, 2025 after a short battle with bladder cancer. Born on June 18, 1945 in St. Louis, he attended Christian Brothers College High School and St. Louis University where he served as Chapter President of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. Mike was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran (3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Kilo company) and received a Purple Heart while serving in the Vietnam War. He married Mary Ann (Murphy) on January 30, 1971 in Wilton, Connecticut and was a loving supportive father to his four children.
Michael's professional career spanned several companies in the printing industry as well as being adjunct professor in Marketing, International Business, and Hospitality at St. Leo College (FL), Schiller International University (FL) and St. Petersburg College (FL).
A man of strong Catholic faith, he instilled in his children and grandchildren a mindset of service centered leadership, unwavering love for family and devotion to his country. He dedicated a significant amount of time to organizations close to his heart including the Freehold Jaycees (NJ), Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School (FL) Athletic Association, St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce Baseball Golf Tournament and The Ryan Wells Foundation.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Murphy), his children Laura Poliquin Badertscher (Kurt), Thomas Eugene (Todd) Poliquin II (Sarah), Andrew Michael Poliquin (April), and Patricia Murphy Smith (Laurence); beloved grandchildren: Lauren Badertscher, Reed, Sawyer and Joscelyn Poliquin; Hailey and Easton Poliquin; and Delaney, Piper and Declan Smith; and his sister Mary Werner, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Laura Smith Poliquin, his brother Thomas Eugene Poliquin; his sisters Sr. Odile Poliquin, SSND, Odile Lampe, and Rita Reilley; and his niece Laurie Poliquin.
Visitation will be on Monday December 8, 2025 from 4:00-8:00pm at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Home 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Rd, Saint Peters, MO 63376. A Mass will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Parish 1355 Motherhead Rd, St. Charles, MO 63304. He will be interned with Military Honors on Wednesday December 10, 2025 at 11:30am Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis MO 63125.
Michael will be remembered with profound gratitude and love by all who knew him, learned from him, and were shaped by his example.
