With profound love and reverence, we celebrate the life of Michael Damon Queen, Jr., who was born on November 21, 1984, in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and peacefully entered eternal rest on January 23, 2026. A resident of
Orlando, Florida, Michael leaves behind a legacy defined by honor, quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and steadfast love for both family and country.
Michael, affectionately known as "Lil Mike," was born to his devoted parents, Michael Queen, Sr. and Mary Queen. Though naturally reserved, his presence spoke volumes. He possessed a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and a calming steadiness that brought comfort and reassurance to all who knew him.
Michael found happiness in life's meaningful simplicities. He enjoyed computers, cooking, reading, and trips to the movies, and he was a loyal Florida Gators fan. Known for his warm smile and humble nature, he gave freely of himself without ever seeking acknowledgment. Above all, Michael was a deeply loving and devoted father. His children were the center of his world, and the pride he carried for them was evident in every facet of his life. To his family, he was nothing short of a treasured blessing.
A graduate of Boone High School in
Orlando, Florida, Michael answered a higher call when he enlisted in the United States Army. For 15 distinguished years, he served his nation with courage, discipline, and selfless dedication. Entering military service on February 8, 2006, he faithfully completed two tours during the Afghanistan War, demonstrating remarkable bravery while defending the freedoms held dear by this nation.
Michael attained the rank of Specialist (SP4), executing every assignment with professionalism, integrity, and quiet resilience. His military career was characterized by sacrifice, perseverance, and an unshakable sense of duty - qualities that defined not only his service but his life.
In recognition of his faithful and honorable commitment, Michael was awarded numerous decorations and commendations, including:
• Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Two Campaign Stars
• Army Commendation Medal
• Meritorious Unit Commendation
• Army Good Conduct Medal
• Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal
• NATO Medal
• Overseas Service Ribbon
• Driver and Mechanic Badge
Each distinction stands as a lasting symbol of a life lived in service, a testament to challenges met with courage, and a nation served with honor.
Committed equally to personal growth, Michael pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University - an achievement he held with great pride and one that reflected his enduring pursuit of purpose and excellence.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Thomesena Lyde and Mrs. Pearl L. Queen; his grandfather, Mr. Charles W. Queen; his great-grandmother, Mrs. Lillian Preston; and his great-grandfather, Mr. Cleveland Preston.
Michael leaves to cherish his precious memory: his beloved children, Isaiah Queen and Tanesha Queen; his devoted parents, Michael Queen, Sr. and Mary Queen of
Orlando, Florida; his brother, Joshua Lyde of
Orlando, Florida; his cherished aunts and uncles, Darren and Diana Lyde of Richmond Hill, Georgia; Valerie and Charlie Monk of
Orlando, Florida; Dr. Yuvonne Martin and Retired Chief Charles Martin of Miami Gardens, Florida; and Annette Queen of Hobe Sound, Florida. He is further remembered with deep affection by a loving circle of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Michael Damon Queen, Jr. lived a life marked by honor, service, compassion, and quiet dignity. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the legacy he built endures - in the lives of his children, within the hearts of his family, and among the many who were touched by his strength, humility, and love.
His life was a gift.
His service was a sacrifice.
His memory will forever be a blessing.
