Michael James Rand, Sr., age 82, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026. He was born February 19, 1944, in Jackson, Michigan to Paul G. Rand, Jr. and Marcella A. (Berry) Rand. Mike retired as a Sergeant from the Jackson Police Department, was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and has been a Florida resident since 1994. He was the past State President of the Fraternal Order of Police, member of the Jackson Police Honor Guard, Chairman of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, member of the Knights of Columbus, and a Kentucky Colonel. Mike enjoyed retirement playing golf at River Greens and traveling around the country with his wife of 60 years, Mary. Throughout his long-term battle with cancer, Mike remained steadfast in his faith. Words cannot express the sincere appreciation to the friends, family and neighbors who assisted during this time. Mike is survived by his Wife – Mary Rand; Sons - Michael J. Rand, Jr. (Susan); Steven P. Rand (Amanda); three Brothers; four Sisters; and 4 Grandchildren – Danielle, Michael, Alex, and Allison. Memorial services will be held Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park on Tuesday, March 3 at 11:00 am.
