Michael Jay Rapp

Michael Jay Rapp, age 57, of Tega Cay, SC, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on the morning of January 27th, 2026.

Born on April 1st, 1968, in Champaign, IL, Michael was the son of Stephen Jay Rapp and Jeanne Marie Rapp, formerly of Morton, IL, and longtime residents of Tega Cay. He was a devoted husband to his wife Cindy Hays Rapp, and a loving father to his children Bradley Jay Rapp and Mary Ashley Cooley (Andrew Cooley), and a cherished brother to sister Catherine E Walcott (Ryan Walcott).

Michael started his own business designing and building some of the most beautiful homes in Tega Cay, and later went on to be a successful real estate agent and design engineer for Weyerhaeuser. He also enjoyed serving on the Fort Mill Marching Band's Pit Crew. In all that he did, Michael brought music, humor, joy, and his unmistakable booming voice into every room he entered.

Music, stories, and quick witted humor were always consistent in his life. He loved his Lord and loved to sing in the church choir; playing the piano by ear, binge watching movies and TV shows with his wife Cindy, and sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of classic cars and vintage film, TV, and radio references.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 6th, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. The family will receive friends after the service with light refreshments.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him, but his beautiful voice, unforgettable laughter, and pure kindness will remain a permanent fixture in the memory of those who knew and loved him.
